Decide Who You Are

You’ve heard the expression, “be a man,” or to “man up.”

This kind of language is the source of a lot of political tension right now in our society, so I thought, Why not use it to get a point across?

What I understand these expressions to convey at a deep level is, Awake the faculties of your mind with the regard to your duties to your family, your community, and all of society.

If you’re afraid of doing something, Man up. If you’re not doing your share of the work, Be a man! Take responsibility! Be accountable! It is evocative, to call upon one’s integrity. But integrity is not a characteristic only belonging to one gender, race, or culture. It is inherent in all Mankind.

I believe the dissension is a result of an identity crisis. Identity in terms of who we really are – not who the world says we are.

If we are beginning our story every day, What story are we telling? Do we even know?

My concern is that we are not beginning our story the right way. And because of that, we don’t really know who we are.

It is my belief that we tell our stories through movement, or action. We cannot tell our stories as we sit idle. Furthermore, we cannot learn who we really are unless we tell our stories.

The reason that I say, It is a redemptive process to make a New Beginning, is because it is never too late to start telling your story. As long as you are alive, you can tell it. And you can Begin anew every morning.

You know your routine better than anyone. You know where there is room for improvement. You also know where your pitfalls are. How can you shore up your defenses right now to protect yourself in the future.

Don’t put yourself in a compromised position. Don’t Get Flanked!

Our intention for Beginning our story should be known to us if we intend to tell it to others. The authenticity of our stories will attract followers, while the lack of authenticity will attract fake followers.

This morning, I want you to make up your mind – Decide Who You Are – don’t you call yourself a Man or not? Are you In or are you Out?
